Achim
president’s message
A key to achieving success as a strong and
vital center of Jewish life in this area is directly linked to the degree we
actively participate in the services and programs offered by Congregation Ahavat
Olam. Events this past month
demonstrated our progress in creating a new and vibrant Congregation. Over 180 of our members came together to
enjoy Erev Shabbat on March 7th, as we joined in being a part of Shabbat Across
America. The sanctuary was full, as was
the social hall, where we ate dinner.
There was a sense of strength and unity because of the significant
number of people who attended.
This year's Purim Carnival provided us
with another opportunity to celebrate.
Once again, we had a great turnout.
The work of our united Men's Club and USY-Kadima group contributed
greatly to a making it a successful event that gave our children and their
families the chance to partake in the festivities. Everyone was delighted with the games,
costumes and hamantashen that are hallmarks of Purim. Additionally, each family was given a Shaloch
Manot basket when they left the synagogue.
Please put time into your schedule to join
us soon. In the next couple of months we
have: a Passover Seder on Sunday night, April 20th (second Seder);
commemoration of Yom Hashoah on April 30th; a Lag B'Omer cookout, and a day to
recognize and appreciate Israel (Sunday afternoon - June 1st), which will
include Israeli dancing and Israeli food.
Talk to board members, committee chairs
and members with your suggestions to enrich the lives of our congregants. Your ideas and help are most appreciated.
